Paul Johnson was raised in the Dallas area, and has extensive ties to the legal community as well as various and valuable connections to Law Enforcement agencies throughout Texas. Upon graduation from Mesquite High School, Paul went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University (SMU), and later received his Juris Doctorate from SMU in 1984.
Paul began his trial career in the Dallas County District Attorney’s office after being hired out of law school by Henry Wade, the legendary, long time District Attorney of Dallas County. As a prosecutor, Paul rose quickly through the ranks of misdemeanor courts and into felony courts where his trial skills were honed in the prosecution of all types of the most serious felony offenses. Paul was responsible for the handling of thousands of cases and has tried hundreds of cases to verdict.
Paul left the District Attorney’s office in the late 80’s to begin a law practice focused entirely on the defense and representation of individuals accused of criminal offenses. Paul recognized the need for citizens to have a knowledgeable and skilled attorney to assist them in their most important times of need. In his practice, Paul strives to address not only the needs of the accused, but to advise and assist the families and loved ones of those needing assistance.
Paul is known for, and has a reputation for, handling some of the biggest and most complex criminal cases in Texas over the last 30 years. He is one of the few lawyers in the state that has been recognized and certified to handle the defense of individuals charged with Capital Murder and are facing a potential death sentence upon conviction. However, he recognizes that every criminal case, no matter how small it may appear, requires and deserves the same focused and aggressive approach he takes to all of the cases that he defends. Paul has been featured numerous times on both local and national media regarding his participation and commentary on important cases in the news.
